Welcome to the TCCA
In 1998 Paddy Concannon was farsighted enough to realise that there would be major problems in the future for the turfcutters of Ireland, however at the time, few people would listen.
Nevertheless, Paddy went ahead and formed the Turf cutters Association and when the EU ordered the cessation of non commercial turf cutting on 32 raised bog Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) Paddy was instrumental in enabling cutting for domestic use to continue.
In 2008, the Turf Cutters Association amalgamated with the Contractors Association to form the organisation which we have today, The Turf Cutters and Contractors Association.
